History
Temescal is the District's first public park, which opened in 1936 as a water storage lake for drinking purposes. The stone building that overlooks its beautiful scenery was constructed by Works Progress Administration laborers back in 1940 to add charm and elegance.
Beach House
The historic Beach House facility is a popular spot for weddings, parties and corporate events. The setting accommodates 80 seated or 130 standing guests with views of Lake Temescal in an elegant yet casual environment. Two rooms are connected into the L-shape that feature bridal changing room as well as catering services available to order from the small food preparation area onsite. This venue features wheelchair accessibility making it great choice for those who need special accommodations.
Swimming Area
The swim area is open year-round, with lifeguards on duty during posted periods. Swimming is permitted only in the designated swim area and at your own risk when there are no lifeguards to monitor swimmers. Dogs aren't allowed near the water but you can bring them along if they're well behaved and not too active so long as you keep a close eye out for other people or animals who might be sensitive to their presence nearby. There's also an access fee attached-- make sure that before heading down!
