All About Piedmont Park

Piedmont Park is a hidden gem in the heart of downtown Piedmont. Nestled among all those huge houses, you'll find an old-growth forest with sloping hills and plenty of seating for parents who want to relax under shady trees or spend time talking as their children play on some grassy knoll close by them. The location also makes it easy if someone wants to explore more than just this one spot, you can easily walk from here into Oakland without being too far away from civilization. The park is easily accessed from Highland Ave in Piedmont, and you can park on the street for two hours right out front. A long, paved dog-friendly trail begins at this lush green space with plenty of room to wander about. If your little one loves seeing dogs then they'll love taking their walk here, it's even kid-friendly since most trails allow pets off-leash.

Piedmont Park is a replica of the original one at Komyo-Ji Temple in Japan. Today, it's used for hosting tea ceremonies and classes. Piedmont Park has some pretty amazing trees that are attracting all sorts of creatures including owls. The eucalyptus tree attracts them because they provide nectar while their bark provides homes for insects where owlets can then feed on both bugs and fruit. Another interesting park resident includes the tomb bat which lives among the rocks close to water sources.

  • Piedmont Park Playground

The playground is designed by the Piedmont Park Committee in collaboration with the City of Oakland Public Works Department. One side of Piedmont Park Playground has a small climbing structure with slides that are made from recycled plastic milk jugs while another side holds swings for kids to play on. Inside this park, there are also water-play features like sprinklers that spray children when they walk over them. Another interesting feature about Piedmont Park Playground is its size, it can hold up to 100 people.
