Centennial Park is a beautiful, diverse park with many natural treasures. Pine Tree Creek runs through the southern boundary of the land and three tributaries that flow from Horse Creek runs across its northern border forming tiny wetlands filled with wildlife like frogs and birds in addition to vernal pools created by construction on Putah South Canal which impede drainage for this area's environment.

The park was once a landfill, wastewater treatment facility, and irrigation ponds. The city reclaimed the land for additional parkland in 1980 before it became home to many other things such as horse stables or even railroad tracks!
Although the previous land uses such as farming and grazing decreased the number of native flora thriving naturally in this park, some have been restored. Today's visitors can enjoy a wide variety of recreational activities including biking, fishing, hiking trails with scenic views, and a softball field.
